Salesmen see me coming. I must have “easy” written on my forehead or something. It’s like I just don’t have the word “no” in my vocabulary when I get around someone who is clearly making commissions.
So after getting bumped up by a pickup truck salesman from a Ford F-250 to the F-350, I decided to throw myself at the mercy of the salesman at the shop where I took my new truck to get equalized. You see, the Fords right off the lot come with the rear end higher than the front end, and I think it looks silly. I’m not going to be towing a fifth wheel, so I wanted simply to get the front end lifted a bit so that it was the same height as the rear end.
Of course as soon as I turned my keys over to the salesman at the counter, he started working me. I should have known just how doomed I was when he said: “You know what would look really good on that fancy new Ford of yours?” But no, my ears perked up in anticipation as he pulled out his trusty catalogue. A few minutes later I was picking out Hella’s Rallye series driving lights. And don’t think for a minute that the chrome truck accessories stopped there either! Let’s just say that he made a really good commission that day.
